How To Partition Your DELL Hard Drives (N5050 and others)

Post by HowTutor » 03 Feb 2013, 09:58

If you newly purchased DELL laptops (say DELL Inspiron N5050), you discover it comes with a whopping 500GB space, but all on one Disc C. And thats where all your drivers and windows are installed. That's not quite OK. But don't panic.
You may want to divide the partition into C: and D: or more, but the problem now is the laptop comes with one CD only which is the drivers CD. It doesn't come with the Windows 7 installation CD. What should you do now?

Solution:

Hey! You don't need any third party software to do this. Be careful.

Steps:

1. Click Start, and go to Control Panel
2. Select System And Security
3. Under Administrative Tools, select Create and format hard disk partitions
4. And... thats it! On the Drive C (OS (C:)), right-click, and select 'Shrink Volume' option.
5. The next window will let you manual input the amount of space you want to deduct to create your new drive. Say 100 GB. OK.
6. Consequently, the last action will create the 100GB partition and call it 'Unallocated Space'
7. Right-click on this and Create Simple Volume' where you select basic options like name, and others.

Thats it! Hope this helps.

Since you deleted the recovery partition you'll have to get the recovery disks. Grab the recovery DVDs, and you'll be good to go!

But if you are lucky to have created system images backed up before the deletion, simply restore the image prior to deletion.
A friend here also suggests you try partition wizard, a nice tool to recover your lost partition

Im sick and tired of the issues with the NVidia card and am looking for a new card. What do people think of AMD Radeon R9-290 or one of the others in that series thats not an exorbitant cost?
