Hoping your web host offers you cPanel,

Step 1
Log into cPanel
In cPanel, you'll need to create a database, create a database user, and add the user to the database with full permissions before you start the installation.
So, first log in to cPanel

Step 2
Inside cPanel,
Click on the icon labeled MySQL Databases in cPanel.

Step 3
Under Create New Database, type in a name for your database, and click Create Database.

Step 4
Under Database Users, type in a user name and password for your user, and click Create User.

Step 5
Under Add User to Database, select your database and your user from the drop-down boxes, and click Add.

Step 6
Select All Privileges, and click Make Changes.

Step 7
Note that your database and user will be preceded by your cPanel account login and an underscore, like so: cpanelname_database.

Step 8
For a fresh phpBB3 install:
Download latest phpBB software and upload into the required folder in your website, maybe with ftp. Extract the .zip folder.

Once the database and user have been created, the information for your install will be:
Type: MySQL
Host: localhost
Port: no change needed
Database: cpanelname_database
User: cpanelname_user
Password: database password

These are the information needed once you browse to the folder where the software is uploaded, which automatically take you to the .../install/index.php

Enjoy. Hang on for more tutorials.
